Returns Worth Raving To This 2014

Yes, this blog is immune to focusing on new music, but fear not I only bring news of cheer of bands/artists that may of been taking it easy this 2013, or even working in secret to produce a mass, multitudinous return back to the real world this year. So, take a look at some of my predictions.

Foo Fighters

3 years since 'Wasting Light' fed through the sound waves into the inner world. That's gone quick right? Not just suspisions after Grohl's pristine white guitar was captured on facebook with blood drenched pick-ups quoting 'a big 2014'. Comeback gigs from Mexico arena's to local pizza restaurants and a huge announcement of Superbowl dates confirms that Dave and co are certainly bigging it up for some thing off the rock radar this year.
Will it be the same as the ferociously hyped material we've seen these past 15 years or a new direction? my hypothesis, they'll be sicking at exactly what they do best, a solid classically Foo spirited blast, but who's to say they don't have a few new tricks in the bag. Rumours left right and centre engulf the Foo's, Glastonbury headliners amoungst the largest. Superbowl gig no problem, but the Pyramid? Bring it.

Lana Del Ray

To say the least, the new yorker red head sweetheart has been keeping it on mute since triumphant debut, 'Born To Die' was released back in 2012. Just remember the shear bitterly sweet taste of tracks such as, 'Video Games', 'Diet Mountain Dew' and 'Radio' were? It causes me a conclusive regret of not blogging pre 2013. In the mean time, Lana has been keeping her fans on the edge of desperation with just a few gigs at the Hammersmith Apollo, maybe a few others but nothing exclusive or with any signs of
leaking through new material. Of course she featured on 'The Great Gatsby' soundtrack with mysteriously meandering track 'Young and Beautiful' plus a few gossip relation flings, but that's all we've had musically. FEAR NOT. Surely I wasn't alone marvelling over 30 minute genius generation of Lana's debuted film 'Tropico' just a tantalising drop of what I think she wants in perspective. As well as a release of an LP to accompany 'Tropico' it's obvious that Lana is laying the foundations for a climax this 2014. She's not keeping it too predictable though stating to NME in the last few months,
' When people ask me about it [album], I just have to be honest – I really don't know… I don't want to say,'
'Yeah, definitely - the next one's better than this one,' because I don't really hear a next one. My muse is very fickle. She only comes to me sometimes, which is annoying."
I wouldn't rule anything out for the alt-psch gone pop goddess. Lana knows the answers, it's just luring in attention at the precise moment, something so perfectly timed it will go astronomical in months to come.

Warpaint
One of my most anticipated albums of the year let alone a return. An instant love for single 'Love is to Die' hit me a few months back and is still whirling round my head full of psychedelic whines of 'Love is to die, love is to not die, love is to dance' almost like a 10x whirlier Florence, but somehow continues to merge bits and pieces of cries, just as 'Biggy' also has been fronted to the lead up of self titled forth album I'm just thankful I've actually listened on repeat 'Exquisite Corpse' ( Third album). Their new album promises a focus on
each individual personality that makes Warpaint, stating that compared to other albums this one has been recorded more 'traditionally' rather than a revealing route of discovering themselves, it's a defined roar that purely claims itself as theirs. I'm guessing Warpaint have diverged into pronouncing their instrumentals further but in particular their vocals that make it that more of an airy LA daze. An upcoming tour round the UK at six venue's is bound to show off Warpaint's reputation of melodic massacres, New album 'Warpaint' comes out around Jan 20th don't expect to be finding it in stock.

Two Door Cinema Club

Being an upcoming niche in the market around 4 years ago and the release of their debut, 'Tourist History' and follow up of 2012 'Beacon' identifies TDCC as the alt pop futuristics of the modern alt scene. But, latest e.p revealed last September suggests they've moved in a
further pop direction but don't panic. Alex Trimble's whiny vocals still embark on an indie imagination of winds and more dreamier visions set higher than ever before. Within the EP  'Crystal' is a slightly more ceremonial approach to their usual vibe however 'Change of the Seasons' is significantly more upbeat with a similarity to 'Golden Veins' it seems with an added remix implying that TDCC are almost trying to throw in as much alternate routes as possible. It doesn't sit amoungst their best work but it sure does give away that a fascination of new endeavours is inevitable for a next album.

Florence and the Machine

Where do I start? around 4 years ago I'll admit I was a hardcore fan of these guys. The same 4 years ago was the lungs era that came alive at each and every festival frenzy Flo and her following graced the world with  dream summer antics of 'Rabbit Heart' and 'Cosmic Love' oozed into the crowd like some sun dozed ecstasy. Following through to 2011 saw the surreal , echoey second album, 'Ceremonials' . A more produced but still  a terribly tranquil record, with a remix N.o1 of 'Spectrum' it's easy to guess that Flo can
handle a enviable amount of genres, two N.o 1's and two albums down, nailed publicly but personally I'd love to see Flo head in yet another direction. Post 2013 saw the machine victorious but it's been well over a year since new material and has left me in a daze of just how many other millions there are waiting out for another sign of perhaps another raw red head revolution. Well, which direction? we've done airy festival sunset vibe, choir chamber calls and even pushed tempo dance. Ok, lets go back to debut 'Lungs' incomparably the best of her works even though doubting it herself , diving deep in to the skeleton of 'Lungs' you can see the earliest recorded songs, 'Hurricane Drunk' and more significantly 'Kiss with a Fist' recollect a more brutal and gritty side. It could prove to be a sublimely suspicious gamble for a next wave. As festival season enroaches for these next few months, we can only hope that past rumours of studio sessions last summer in Jamaica prove to return Flo back to her gracious royalty of Festival Queen. Just remember that smashing of a gig back at The Other Stage 2010? Glastonbury is waiting,

The Stone Roses

12 years since the immensity of the roses was at large, 12 years since their greatest hits were released but many more since new material but yet many less to see some. My guess Foo's may opt out of a headlining spot for Glastonbury to be replaced with The Stone Roses, or even both, lets keep the hype and discuss the album. Being singed to both Universal and Columbia ( Sony) Records in the past few years, sub dividing between
Europe and America it's clear although no one knows quite yet what, that tunes somewhere, in some studio are stirring. Whether to be released anytime soon is the question, after  film documentary, 'Made of Stone' was released back in May it's inevitable to theorise that surely some gig near the scale of Finsbury Park would do the band justice. An indefinite let loose gig of past triumphs contrasted to an anatomy of a whole new album, it would be just the setting for The Roses to kick start a new era.

Bombay Bicycle Club

Having originated the band name from a chain of local curry takeaways, it's fair to say that Bombay Bicycle Club have had their fair share of rock glitz glam-our. Take past 3 previous albums ' Flaws' , 'I Had The Blues But Shook Them Loose' and recent success of 2012 'A Different Kind Of Fix' each one exploring into a new cult of delicate gone grit, past time reverb on to a whole new level of inspiration. 'So Long, See You Tomorrow' interprets journeys across India, Turkey and even Holland to 'create a melodic hook behind everything' states guitarist Jamie MacColl. A more pop album? not necessarily but perhaps
with pop sensibilities with diversions of Asian chant samples, introverted piano and just about any kind of mix to make this album a compete different diversity to the rest and unregrettably too.  An expected release date of early February suggests a huge step in their game, maybe indie-rock wasn't quite creative enough but with a seemingly rebooted revolution for the band it looks as a pretty hectic year for the North London Curry fanatics.

The xx

Well, you could say they've been on a break. Despite myself seeing them last summer I reckon that was just the cherry on top to show 'Coexist' in all its dance gone assuring alt
glory. Backbone of the band, Jamie xx has been in every nook and corner making remixes however it as revealed at the beginning of December from both Romy and Ollie that new work was being written for 2014/2015. A tour is a daily yearn from fans such as me or just a hint of festival fanatics would send global demand. Whether it sees a further emphasis on dance or even Romy's delicate yet anthemic riffs, it looks that neither of the three can wait. Expect some of Jamie's new features throughout a constant mix of the unknown.

Oasis

No way, quit the suspicions and ambitions, they're still in hisses , Noel's never subjected to that, still hating on his brother, 'He's like a man with a fork in a world of soup' as is Liam 'Fuck Oasis and Fuck Noel Gallagher' yep... not any closer to it this year than any other.
