Amp It Up to..... Future Plans

Oh ok, haven't heard of them before?! not even in NME or any other radar reveling news feed that just about keeps you on track with the music loop. Truth is of course there's never apparently been enough pages in a magazine for these guys to even get a mention, which is disappointing because I would of thought by now the likes of record scouts e.t.c would be well onto them, but fear not, ampitupnow.blogspot has dedicated its one writer to rant about how riffingly revolutionary their new material is. I first came across them when my uncle hosted a battle of the bands gig in aid of charity around last May/June, they happened to win and he handed me their EP as a starter. Being really impressed I waited and waited for the smallest bit of publicity about a possible future intensely indie rock band emerging from Bristol, (another vitally growing music scene,) but no sign. Lets run through the EP.

Opening with accelerating drums and sort of grungy riffs, 'Hold you Tight' then goes into a delicate guitar melody. But don't be fooled, quiet isn't Future Plans's thing. The chorus yells the likes of Dinosaur Pile Up. a tune about sinking on a ship has never sounded so good.
Next up is 'Dream Out Loud' with yelling out the main lyrics followed by mini solos and intensely sharp verses, its definitely the one that gets stuck in your head, in a good way, with the incredibly high riff up the top of the fret board.
'6/8' is a bit slower but urges to be played whilst reminiscing over any kind of ugly day with the deep bass added it adds a great twist to 'Dream Out Load EP' suggesting a whole different vibe to them too, 'Tiger In The Grass' is more upbeat and optimistic out of the others, yet not overwhelmingly samey and personal, It proves Future Plans aren't just full on thrash-a trap that so many up coming bands fall into. However, it continues to stick to their tradition of effortless picking, this follows through to the last track, 'Runaway' which is once again falls into true grungy spirit, no hope and 'All by myyyyyyyyyy self' makes it a perfect choice for a small, intimate sweaty gig, full of raw desperation. Its like your dream college rock band, but 10x better mixing delicate but blasting rock out their amps in the space of one song, by no means are they a self indulgent indie band, who rather keep it quiet and personal. Future Plans hide nothing, a genuine, fresh rock band who urge for a growing fan base, go follow them on SoundCloud, twitter, Facebook whatever. Go check out Bristol whilst you're at it, I'll tell you once, watch this space.
